I was lucky enough to be able to use acupuncture for nearly 3 years for chronic pain from an unknown cause that left me unable to stand up straight, extend my left leg from the knee to the foot, unable to put weight on the same leg without excrutiating pain and was not able to even life my foot more than just a shuffle off the ground with everyday walking shoes. The shoes were simply too heavy for me to life my foot. I walked like the hunchback in the comedies when he says "walk this way" as he drags a dead foot behind him. The Dr., Dr. Chon was a licensed doctor of oriental medicine. He worked with me for over 3 years to get me walking without limping or dragging my foot. The pain levels were - at the end of that time - between 2 and 2 1/2 as opposed to the 8 to 10+ that it has been for the past 5 years. I'm stuck with oxycondin 20mg 3x a day sometimes robbing Paul to take care of Peter the pain principle. It is demeaning to be addicted to these pain killers, demoralizing not to be able to walk without some limping and the bleed through of pain is too much mentally and physically some days to bare. I wish such a program was avalable here in Michigan - hoping to get back to Alaska and Dr. Chon someday in the not so distant future.
Great thing you are doing - treating the whole-ness of a body and not just muffling the noise a sick body generates.

I love you Mom! Some folks have salaried editors to keep them on track, I have Carolyn! And there is no question, I need it! Not tired this time, it is pain meds. That is why I went to the Community Clinic for some of those magic needles. No need for meds today!
On another note, have you ever seen or heard of the story of Guy Galbaldan, a Marine from east LA? He was a WWll hero, who was raised with a Japaneese family in LA.
I just met his commanding officer, here in Tucson, on Wednesday. A 91 year old retired Marine Colonel with a Silver Star and 5 Bronze Stars. He was at landing at Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Tinian, and Guam! He was Corporal Guy Gabaldan's Captain at Battle for Saipan, when Galbaldan took neary 800 POW;s single handedly, and was nominated for Medal of Honor. He was given the Navy Cross.
I have the honor of being this mans service officer. I can see why they call them the "Greatest Generation."
And yes we are going to get him some acupuncture sessions!

Hey Mike, you must be overly tired to misspell "acupuncture" in your title. It's spelled okay in the text. I've tried acupuncture twice, and some people really swear by it.
