<em>"The right not to be propositioned, by gays. The right not to be objects of their obsession with sex. The right not to be embarrassed by gays staring at them..."

</em>Well, I'll take another look at the Bill of Rights, but I don't recall any amendments concerning the so-called rights you mention. If there were, they would likely be clauses of the "Right to not be challenged in our prejudices and irrational fears".

Speaking of irrational, it is a bit of a leap to go from Equal Treatment for LGBT people to a return of the draft. The problems of the draft are separate from the issue of integrating the military.

Five tours is nothing but a back door draft. And, I would not worry about it ever happening because the Army does not want many of the modern day youth. The Armed Forces is too high tech, and so few have the smarts or the discipline to learn the skills. They are also the least fit of any generation of youth in the past 75 years. Thanks McDonald's for aiding and abetting the enemy!

What about equal rights of those who are straight. The right not to be propositioned, by gays. The right not to be objects of their obsession with sex. The right not to be embarrassed by gays staring at them, in the shower rooms or rest rooms with no stalls and open urinals for many. The right not to feel self conscious while nude in the Barracks, etc.... Freedom from sexual harassment.... These were person experiences for nine years. Gays coming on to me, even when I strenuously objected to their advances. Even before the Dont ask, Dont Tell rule, many of them just did not care. These are many of the reasons service personal will resign commissions or not re-enlist.
THEN, there were the guys on Okinawa, when the Korean War began, who decided they did not want to go into harms way. When a group of 17 gathered on the beach, openly having sex with each other, until arrested by the Military Police. So they would be discharged from the service, they said, "We don't care if they lock us up for six months, its better than dying." Hundreds of people on the beach were forced to witness their behavior, including children.
Yes, the draft could be enacted to get replacements. BUT, having served with many who were drafted, know that Volunteers make a much better, stronger army. In Korea we had draftees who served with honor. But, we also had many who never fired a shot on Patrols or attacked and would hide undercover whenever they could. They know firing a weapon draws counter fire upon them. Ive seen draftees who never even loaded their weapons, had to take them and load them myself.
Volunteers know, they do not have to worry about the soldier next to them. That they will do their part as well as they will themselves. That most of them would be willing to give their lives for them, if the time came. Like my cousin Jason Dunham, a Marine who died in Iraq saving brother Marines, awarded the Medal of Honor.

Those of you who have a son in a combat unit in the Army raise your hand. .......thought so. Not too many of you. Well, I do and I DON"T want a draft. I dont want your drug smoking, weak child next to my son. It's tough out there. basic training at Ft. Benning would get rid of most them. Good.

Equal justice, equal opportunity and equal treatment may have their costs, but there are much greater costs for denying equality.

Even if some people leave the military in protest over equality, so what? Others will likely join up who might not otherwise. And why would we want to be represented in our military by those who hold such prejudice?
