What we are witnessing, almost on a daily occurrence, are the symptoms of a more systemic and devastating disease, the lack of time tested values present in our entrusted elected leaders: integrity, honesty, patience, trustworthiness, truth and more. We are witness to self-serving decision making with unaccounted results. We see the results of a top down hierarchy of decision makers who have a symbiotic relationship with their bosses who’s backs are scratched on a daily basis by themselves and each other.  A cancer is among us for if when these leaders and officials lie to us once, tho we would like to, we can never really trust them to tell us the truth about anything ever again. For the most part, we would like for it to be different, but it never is. When running, they express that they will do good and once elected, they find a way to do well. We all pay for that result both directly in their compensation as well as indirectly in the resulting decay of the moral fiber within the community; we then cannot trust others and we become disaffilliated. Yet we still seek time tested values, if only for a brief time; if for no other reason that to feel good about who we are as individuals within as a community even if that community is made up of one.
